Wordy infographics don’t increase understanding yes
AspenTech wanted to demonstrate how advances in printing and broadcasting technology mirror advances made in their own specialty, process optimization. They tried developing a timeline infographic, but all of the tiny text competes with the rest of the bulleted text on the slide, making viewers have to work much too hard to understand the meaning of the slide.
A few rounds of edits allowed us to concentrate on one “revolutionary to evolutionary” concept, the advances in the field of communication. I created this animated timeline:
